Sophia Kostelanetz is starting her second year of medical residency at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Prior to moving to Nashville, she completed her bachelor’s degree, her doctor of medicine degree and her master’s degree in public health at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. Her medical residency specializes in combined internal medicine and pediatrics. Sophia has particular interest and commitment to global health, and has worked in Haiti, Peru, Rwanda, Central America, and Russia. She most recently spent 2013-2015 working with Partners in Health on monitoring, evaluation, quality improvement, and operation research in Haiti and West Africa. In 2015, Sophia married fellow Tufts graduate Sean Judge and they relocated to Nashville, where Sean is VP of Member Services at 3rd Home. Sophia was born in the former Soviet Union and moved with her family to the United States when she was five years old. She spent most of her childhood living in Shreveport, Louisiana. When JCRS was first introduced to Sophia, she was completing her senior year of high school, while living in a foster home in Shreveport. JCRS provided financial aid to Sophia for all her years of undergraduate education at Tufts University.
