Oscar J. Tolmas Hanukkah Gift Program

For over 20 years, the JCRS has brightened the Hanukkah celebrations of hundreds of children who are facing difficult times.

Each year, we send out boxes of Hanukkah gifts to boys and girls throughout our 7-state region. Some of these children are recovering from natural disasters, some have special needs, and some are new immigrants. They may have parents who are deceased, disabled, in prison, or deployed overseas. Almost all come from families who are struggling to stay afloat in this economy

JCRS wants these children and parents to know that they are not alone, and that they are remembered by the Jewish community at this joyous time of year.

The packages we send include eight small Hanukkah gifts—one for each night. The gifts are specially selected, age-appropriate. Parents who will out the application form can indicate a child’s interests. Gifts are accompanied by hand-made cards (made by volunteers throughout our region) and Hanukkah ritual items. Some of the children look forward to these special gifts year after year!

JCRS also collaborates with chaplains and social workers each year to send boxes of Hanukkah gifts to the isolated Jewish residents of specialized adult care facilities throughout our region.
